I often ask my patients what their favorite type of books are. Sometimes they have a book in hand and it’s easy—we start discussing what they are reading. Other times, there’s some fidgeting and they say,

“I don’t really like to read.”

Here’s the thing: you just may have not found the right book for you yet. YET.  There are so many books that you are told you should read, but we are ready to aid in your QUEST to find the book that you want to read. To find the right book for you.

Come in and find YOUR book in our treasure trove at Bookdragon.

Readers and Dreamers

Our kids met on the first-second grade playground and immediately bonded over playacting with magic and dragons. From there, our family friendship solidified through our love of books and creativity.

For years, Lisa and Melanie have talked about opening a bookstore and community space. We envision a children’s bookstore full of books and dragons, art installations, rooms for tutoring, classes for creative writing and art, author and illustrator visits, story times, book clubs, D&D sessions, and more.

Picture this: sessions with local experts helping you create characters for your stories or campaign, learning poetry techniques, figuring out cosplay costumes. Learning printmaking from a master. Mastering complex math problems or reading out loud.

Recently we have been hearing about how reading comprehension skills have gone down and that many kids are not reading books. Even in classrooms, they may be reading only excerpts instead of the entire novels, which affects how we interpret manuscripts and story arcs. Our goal at Bookdragon is to instill a love of reading, even in our self-proclaimed non-readers.

  • We’re two families who are passionate about literacy, reading, and creativity.

  • We believe in finding the right book for your child to spark a love of reading and imagination.

  • We collaborate with community-oriented partners who believe in creativity and inclusiveness.

Welcome fellow bookdragons!

As we work on our brick and mortar bookstore, we will have pop-up events, Treasure Trove Trios (book bundles), and more.

You can also peruse our curated shelves online at Bookshop.org, where all the proceeds go to Bookdragon and fellow indie bookstores.
